Chapter 03: Fire is the third episode of Season Four. It is preceded by Chapter 02: Shock and is followed by Chapter 04: Submarine.
Plot[]
As the group prepares to raise the RTC, Glória makes a fateful deal, Michele finds herself trapped, and Rafael reconnects with a familiar face.
Summary[]
Marco comes up behind Glória and Glória asks what he'd choose between living in the Offshore and tearing it apart. He tells her the Shell is their Offshore. They start kissing and move to a hammock.
Glória watches Marcela eat and asks her if she'd be able to go to the Offshore if she passes. Marcela says yes. She says she won't go alone and wants two spots, but Marcela refuses. Glória tries to change her mind, saying the Offshore will get destroyed if she doesn't agree.
Rafael and Marco are looking for ways to execute the plan. Marco wants to end the Process and thinks Verônica's plan is better than his. Rafael sees a woman he knows, someone who was into him. She works at the power plant.
Glória brings Mauricio to see Marcela as a gesture of good faith. After a few moments, Glória has Larissa take him away, but not before Marcela can whisper to Larissa to take Mauricio and leave the shell. Marcela agrees to the two spots for Glória and Marco, though Marcela wishes she'd choose someone more worthy. Glória then tells Marcela about the pulse.
Xavier gets up in the middle of the night and disables the fans, allowing Michele go to through the vent. Once she's out, they meet up.
Verônica is stopped from visiting the RCT.
Another Council member comes to the group and says their message didn't get to Nair because of Verônica's arrest. They have to convince Rafael to agree to the plan.
Rafael flirts with the woman and reminds them of their compatibility. She knows who he is and calls him a traitor. Marco leaves to execute the plan, which Rafael still thinks won't work. Rafael takes a bottle from the bar and starts drinking. Cássia finds him and says they don't usually drink from the bottle in the Offshore. She pours them each a glass. She assures him it's not poisoned, thought she would have done that in the past. But now now.
Michele places the turbine in an Offshore fridge.
André talks to Ariel, who had a rough first day. He tells her to get used to it because suffering is part of the Process. Glória informs André that Michele has infiltrated the Process building. Michele goes to leave through the vents, but the fans are turned back on, trapping her.
The bar has emptied out. Cássia speaks of being a top candidate in her Process. Then she got to the Offshore and didn't fit in. So she was sent to the rehabilitation center. Ezequiel turned her around. Before Ezequiel appointed her to security, he tested her by asking her to press a button that will kill a person. Rafael wouldn't push the button. Then she found out Ezequiel was with the Cause. But it gave her life meaning for years.
Year of the 103rd Process: 4 Years Ago
Rafael remembers arguing with his mother before leaving for his Process. He leaves home, then sits down and drinks. Ivana spots him and approaches. It's his 20th birthday. She tells him about the Cause.
Rafael tells Cássia how the Cause is what gave his life meaning.
Cássia and Rafael kiss frantically in her bed.
Xavier exits a vent just as they're called to the main lobby. André tells them their next task is to capture Michele, an infiltrator from the Shell. They know she's trying to escape the building.
Michele walks around. She spots some guards nearby.
Rafael wakes up next to Cássia, who is still sleeping. He takes her communicator ring and gets out of bed. He tries to leave, but she pulls a gun on him and forces him to return the ring. She wants to know if they're taking down André. He says it was his plan alone and she gives him the ring back. She tells him no matter what he does, he won't change anything. He'll understand someday.
The group prepares to enter the RCT. They review the plan one final time and then go in.
Offshore Security Division
Rafael sneaks inside the building using Cássia's ring.
Joana finds Verônica as she's freeing prisoners. They hug before leaving. Elisa and Natália hear someone coming and hide. A man comes and enters the room they were able to open.
Joana and Marco lead the prisoners out.
Once the man leaves, Elisa and Natália enter the room and shut off the security system.
Joana leads the prisoners out, but they're found by guards, who start firing. Joana hides with Verônica. They hear someone coming up the steps, but it's Rafael.
Michele is still trying to escape. She hides from passing guards as she moves through the building. She runs into some candidates, including Pedro and Xavier. Xavier talks Pedro out of harming her.
Glória leads Marcela and the other prisoners out. Marcela wants her to destroy the Shell as they leave. It's her final test.
A Council member tries to take the gun Rafael is holding, and Rafael reluctantly gives it to him, along with Cássia's ring.
Joana goes to talk to Verônica and asks her if she had children before her Process. Verônica says she didn't. When people arrive Offshore, they always try to find family and she knows Joana was doing that. Joana is upset.
Marcela pushes Glória to act quickly. Glória reveals that the second spot she wants is for her baby. Marcela says that's not a problem. Glória takes a lamp and drops it, igniting the spilled fertilizer. Marcela welcomes her to the 3%. Glória then starts running around, waking everyone and warning them of the fire. Glória suddenly remembers Mauricio and goes back for him. She finds the nursery engulfed in flames. Fernando's wheelchair is also burning. Outside, the residents watch the Shell burn down. Glória finds Marcela waiting for her.
Michele is brought to André. Just then, Ariel comes in and tells André that Marcela is there.
André and Marcela come face to face. Marcela asks if Michele brought the turbine. Marcela says the Offshore is in danger and she'll go handle it. André rejects that proposition. Marcela then informs Glória that she's going back on her deal. Glória can come to the Offshore after she gives birth and her child can join her when they pass the Process. Glória is angry.
Nair orders André to end the Process and return to the Offshore. André tells her about the Shell's plan to take down the Offshore. They have to decide if they're with him or with the Shell.
